What has been Schmersal’s success journey?
The awareness of safety is spreading and growing in India- a great success stepping stone for Schmersal. Our primary mission is to educate customers on the awareness of safety and its importance. Our developments in the local markets have been phenomenal. We are set to facilitate exponential growth in the coming 5 years.
What are your expansion plans in the Indian market?
The Indian market has great potential for the growth of safety switchgear because the Government is taking an active role in spreading safety awareness to the masses. The safety norms and standards are on par with global requirements. When this spreads far and wide, we will be the first to hop on the bandwagon and be the ideal safety provider for the nation.
What are your manufacturing solutions for the domestic market?
We have a broad range of products, from switches to safety components. Over 30% of the manufacturing is localized and made for the Indian market. We have also made active efforts to divert exports from Germany and other European countries to India.
What are your technology and market competition differentiators from India v/s Germany?
Every country is driven by their innate safety standards. The amount of money a consumer is willing to spend directly relates to the importance he places on safety. A developing country like India is now embracing new safety technologies. There are testers who are now testing new technology to meet customer needs in several spheres- ultrasonics, signal processes, and so much more. While, in some countries the process is still all mechanical.
India is at the helm of technology upgradation and is set to grow by leaps and bounds in the coming years.
What is the current potential in the Indian market and your global exports?
Both as a local and international hub, there is great potential in the Indian market for switchgear control safety devices. All the products which are exported to India are of global standard and can suffice international standards as well.
